Character Information

Name: S'chn T'gai Spock

Age & Date of Birth: 28

Gender: Male

Species: Vulcan/Human Hybrid, often mistaken as an elf with a funny haircut

Canon: Star Trek AOS

Powers & Skills:
In general: Systems Engineering (since lol computer sciences haven't recovered yet), Physics, Oceanography, General Science
Vulcan-specific: Mind Meld, Nerve Pinch, Heightened Senses, Physiological differences
*a detailed explanation of the Vulcan-specific powers are at the end of the app
Position & Occupation: Starfleet Naval Officer, Rank of Commander, First Officer aboard the INS Enterprise

Home Location: Born on what was previously the Vulcan islands, currently residing in Imperia City

Appearance: Spock is a Human/Vulcan hybrid and he's inherited all the dominant appearance traits from his Vulcan father. His ears are pointed, much like that of an elf, and his eyebrows are permanently slanted upwards. His iconic haircut is similar to most Vulcan men, which includes clean-cut bangs. His hair is so dark brown that it looks black except when in direct sunlight. Spock is poised and always moves with grace and purpose. When fascinated, he frequently likes to cock his eyebrow.

Observant characters will also notice that Spock, after any amount of physical activity, is never sweaty. This is because Vulcans have no sweat glands and instead cool their bodies internally through their larger blood vessels.

Family:

Mother - Amanda Grayson, Died during the destruction of Vulcan
Father - Sarek, Vulcan Ambassador to Imperia

Bio:

Spock was born on Vulcan, a large island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean shaped by its slumbering volcanos. It's people, the Vulcans, were a peaceful population centered around the pursuit of science, logic, and ultimately enlightenment.

180 years ago, when the zenith of human civilization was destroyed by bombs and turned to ash, Vulcan suffered heavy damages and casualties. Communication with the mainland was lost, and Vulcan set to rebuild itself while scouting for signs of life across the ocean.

In 2361, Spock was born. His father, Ambassador Sarek, was (and still is) one of few Vulcans still willing to make the now months-long voyage between the island and the mainland to treat with humans. His mother, Amanda Grayson, was a human. It was Amanda who taught Spock that he can choose his own destiny, but it was also his human mother that caused Spock to be bullied his entire childhood. 180 years later, Vulcans still saw humans as an inferior species — one whose recklessness should be blamed for the damages they suffered nearly two centuries ago.

When Spock elected to join the Starfleet Navy over the Vulcan Academy, he left the island knowing that he would never have the approval of the island's elders.

Starfleet is currently a small, paramilitary peacekeeping and exploratory organization formed after the destruction of the old world. Starfleet Command is located in Imperia City. It's primary mission is to seek out new life and new civilizations by sailing across the Earth. It's prime directive however, is to not interfere with the governance or development with said civilizations. Starfleet is actively developing new ships for the defense of Imperia City and all city states that wish to join in alliance.

Five years ago, while serving aboard the INS Enterprise, a catastrophic fight against Romulan pirates surfaced highly volatile 23rd century technology. Spock, barely able to save the Vulcan elders, lost his mother, and watched as the Vulcan island was destroyed from its core.

Now, what remains of the Vulcan population lives on a new island, called New Vulcan. So few are the members of this species that the rest of Earth will soon see them as myth, confusing Vulcans for elves, or other mystical creatures that used to be. Spock, honestly, prefers it this way. He now belongs to an endangered species, and New Vulcan must be allowed to rebuild in peace.

When it is time, he will one day return to perform his duty in the reconstruction process.

The INS Enterprise however, is no myth.

This ship, famous for it's recent defense of the local waters of Imperia City, took heavy damage in an encounter with the pirate captain, Khan Noonien Singh. While the Enterprise is being rebuilt, it's crew is free to seek landlocked work or sign aboard other vessels. Should Starfleet require their services however, the crew will immediately return.

This last paragraph is adapted from Spoo's app, meant to unite Spock's backstory with Hikaru Sulu's.

Powers Addendum

↳ Vulcan Mind Meld
Mind Meld allows Spock to share his own, or extract from others, thoughts, experiences, memories, and knowledge. While some Vulcans can perform the mind meld without physical contact, at this point in his life, Spock cannot. It is conceivable that through more years of study, Spock could learn how to mind meld from a distance, but all instances of doing so will cause great duress and need intense concentration. The power works on individuals who are unconscious or dead, but only if their mind is in tact. For example, Spock could not touch the ashes of someone to get past memories. Same with a corpse whose brain has already decayed. In extreme cases, Spock can transfer a copy of his entire consciousness into another person's mind. This is usually done when a Vulcan knows that he is about to die. If his body remains intact after death, then his consciousness can be transferred back into it by a Vulcan high priestess.

↳ Vulcan Nerve Pinch
A martial technique developed by Vulcans, the nerve pinch requires only one hand (which means Spock can perform it on two people simultaneously), targets pressure points on the neck and shoulder of the subject, and renders him/her unconscious immediately. No permanent damage is caused. The pinch works only creatures with a nervous system and does not have magical properties. So for example, Spock cannot nerve pinch a robot and expect it to lose power, but he could nerve pinch a horse. It is also possible for Spock to teach others the technique, as it is not dependent on Vulcans heritage. Humans with superhuman powers, such as Kahn, can withstand the nerve pinch without falling unconscious for a period of time, but it brings them great pain to do so.

↳ Heightened senses
Those pointy ears aren't for nothing. Spock (and all Vulcans) can hear, see and smell much better than normal humans. Vulcans experience more color than humans do, which often means they experience headaches after prolonged exposure to vibrant colors. They can smell body odors, to the degree of being able to tell if one is a Vulcan, or a robot posing as one.

↳ Miscellaneous Vulcan differences, as compared with humans
  • The Vulcan skull is harder than human skulls, so blows to the head that are fatal to humans will only injure a Vulcan.
  • Because the Vulcan species originates and has lived on dryer planets, they've evolved to withstand drought-like weather. This includes an inner-eyelid that protects them against sand, as well as a physical ability to live for a longer period of time without any water.
  • The inner-eyelid can also protect against other harmful substances, such as blinding flashes of light, and radiation. (Though the rest of Spock will indeed, suffer heavily from radiation, his eyes will be okay!)
  • Vulcan nervous systems are also more resilient than humans, but are not superhuman.
  • Vulcans live much longer than humans, usually to 250-300 years old.
  • Vulcans can stop eating for days with no effect on their physical health.
  • Vulcans get drunk off chocolate, not alcohol.
  • Vulcans never directly lie. They may mislead, but they cannot tell a direct lie.
