Spock, from the Academy Books

Uhura's inner dialogue:
The problem with staring down a Vulcan is that it can be difficult to make one uncomfortable enough to force him to speak.

Spock's inner dialogue:
In the few years Spock had spent living on his mother's home world, he'd come to accept the fact that humans overly relied on culturally specific references, expecting those who did not grow up on their world to understand them.

On Vulcan, Spock's instructors had never expected to hear a "thank you" for a mere assessment of his superior work. Spock pushed aside the logical response in favor of meeting the requirements of Earth's customs.

(After hearing Captain Warde say, "I'm going to be honest with you Spock.")
He had learned to be suspicious of that phrase during his time on Earth. Spock found that when a human felt the need to point out that they were being honest, it usually meant they were about to be insulting. "Thank you." (then repeated three times) This was growing tiresome.

Spock did not reply to the yelled question. It was unseemly to shout through a door, particularly since the occupant would surely open it upon hearing the sound of a second chime.

Spock was almost offended that Thanas would think that comment would offend him.

Direct Quotes, Spock:
"Actually, I have found the ledge by the window to be more suitable to my needs."

"I fail to understand the human fascination with punishment. They will both face rehabilitation for their actions."
"I also fail to see the human preoccupation with celebrating success."

"I also noted that you were quite adept at using techniques that would be considered flirtatious. That is not a situation I can replicate with Thanas and expect the same type of results."
Uhura: "I wasn't being flirty."
"I believe you were. Touching my and. The way your eyes locked with mine. The emphasis you placed on certain words. In my time on Earth I have observed those methods of women attracting male suitors."

"In this instance, I would prefer not to abuse that relationship, since I do not agree that your involvement in this activity is warranted." (on Captain Warde's willingness to listen to Spock, should he make a recommendation)
